Technical progress does not stop at the Vespa and SIP Performance presents a radial front Disc Brake that raises the braking performance of classic and modern Vespas to a new level.

Results from the test laboratory are often good for surprises, but the performance of our 5644 Brake Calliper has exceeded the wildest expectations. The one-piece "mono-block" construction and the forged material of the Pliers make them so torsion-resistant that they expand ten times less than others under load.

Four pistons, each with a diameter of one inch, distribute the braking force over particularly large pads. This not only results in strong deceleration, but also very good heat dissipation and gives the brake exceptional stability. Nevertheless, the hydraulic transmission ratio in conjunction with standard brake pumps and the SIP brake pump of our Basterd (art. no. 56370000) is appropriate and not too aggressive.

None other than the racing team "Team Germany 111" has chosen this brake to fight for victory in the 24-hour race in Zuerra in 2025!

In accordance with our SIP principle, we will only release the parts for sale as soon as we have received confirmation from the Federal Motor Transport Authority that they are approved for use in road traffic. The enclosed "parts type approval" (TTG) corresponds to the former German "Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis" (ABE). In conjunction with the 39072 Brake Calliper bracket (Axle Seating), the upgrade to the 5644 radial brake calliper is officially permitted for all Classic Vespas with factory-fitted Disc Brakes; this includes late PX models, for example the so-called "PX 98" and "Millennium".

For all other Vespa models, individual approval is made considerably easier by the TTG. After all, the expert can see that the components meet the requirements in terms of power, strength, etc. In this case, it is advisable to use a Brake Disc that also has an ABE or ECE marking; and to use a Wheel Hub for which a parts certificate is available, for example our 39044200. Otherwise, from a "TÜV point of view", you should use original Piaggio parts if possible, as the expert can assume that these have already been tested and approved within the frame of the vehicle homologation.

Brake Calliper and Bracket are available individually or as a set (564439xx). The respective approval document is always included. We also offer a complete front radial Disc Brake with parts certificate (part no. 300R30xx).

The radial brake calliper 5644 can also be mounted with brackets (Axle Seating) from other manufacturers and a hole spacing of 82 mm, for example with AF-Parts TOURER 39061100. It also fits modern Vespas with a left-hand Suspension Arm (ZIP, ET2, ET4, Primavera 125-150, Sprint), for example in combination with this Axle Seating 39061900.

Conclusion: The radial Brake Calliper from SIP Performance raises the bar for Vespa brake systems by a few notches.
