Speedometer/Rev Counter SIP 2.0

SIP 2.0 Speedometer for Vespa VNA/VNB
  • 120 mph/kmh / 12.000 (Umin/rpm)
  • Black Face with Black LCD
  • digital/analouge, 20 features

Since their introduction in 2010 the SIP Speedometer/Rev counters have revolutionised the vintage scooter speedometer market. Features, that were before only possible with additional cockpit instruments, could now be enjoyed integrated into one single unit – and all this with maximum understatement! These function-packed cockpit instruments are, at first glance, identical to the OE PIAGGIO speedometers.

And now, at last, the dreams of many of our customers have become reality with two additional varieties now being available. One is intended for Vespa VNA/VNB models with the other version suitable for Faro Basso/wideframe models, from V30-VL. The second type is also compatible with many license-built Vespa models, such as those produced by ACMA, Motovespa, etc.

Despite their compact dimensions, they were completely revised internally and include more functions than the existing SIP 2.0 speedometers. The intuitive gear-indicator is new, along with the latest speed/power test applications. This function otherwise only found space in the larger speedometers produced for the modern Vespa models. These features also include a timer, with which you can either measure the time it takes to accelerate from standstill to a pre-programmed speed, or how long it takes to travel a certain distance. This enables values such as 'from 0-100 kph in 6 seconds' or '150m in 5.3 seconds' etc. to be reliably recorded.

These speedometers require a 12V power supply, which is best achieved on these vintage models by fitting either a PX, Vespatronic or SIP Performance ignition system. If this is not possible an additional removable 12V battery can also provide the power. To enable this we have also included a battery charge level indicator, which can be pre-programmed with a minimal charge value to warn the rider that the battery requires recharging.

The speed is measured by attaching the included electronic rotation sensor to the front axle. A mechanical speedometer cable cannot be attached, due to the extremely compact dimensions of the speedometer housing.

All the proven features of the existing SIP speedometers are included, such as the rev counter and temperature monitor, which is especially effective for checking the motor temperature during longer tours to avoid overheating, heat seizures, etc. The latest functions of these new speedometers include an exhaust gas temperature monitor and the richness of the fuel mixture can also be displayed with the help of an additional Lambda sensor. So finally, even the most elderly vintage Vespa models, such as the Faro Basso, wideframe, ACMA, Motovespa, VNA/VNB, etc., can at last be unobtrusively upgraded with the latest in aftermarket speedometer technology!
