Vespa PX125-200E P125X-P200E Cosa Sprint Veloce Non E/Start POLINI Digital IDM Ignition
Polini offers with its IDM ignition an interesting alternative to the original ignition system.
The basic idea is also here a significant improvement in acceleration through significantly less flywheel mass. The pole wheel of the Polini IDM ignition weighs only 1,4Kg, so it is over 50% less than a standard PX fan wheel.
The resulting throttle response is fantastic and the acceleration is much more aggressive in the lower gears. The resulting throttle response is fantastic and the acceleration in the lower gears is much more aggressive. This is achieved by a lightweight construction where the rotor and fan are separate components.

The ignition itself is based on a base plate of a 50cc automatic microller and has a frequency dependent ignition timing control. This is dynamically designed and adjusts over the speed band in a fixed pre-programmed ignition curve.
The engine adjusts the ignition timing dynamically (i.e. with change of the speed) by 8° crank angle. In the example (of the installation instructions available in the download area) you can see that a statically adjusted ZZP is adjusted from 23° from 1300 rpm to 15° at 8000 rpm.
If the ZZP is statically adjusted to 26°, you will land at 18° at 8000 rpm.
The dynamic adjustment helps the engine to achieve good torque and clean combustion even in the lower speed range, where a possibly existing resonance exhaust does not yet provide good support. In order to relieve the engine thermally, the ignition timing in the upper speed range is reduced again, since it usually has a good filling here.
Even in the lower speed range strong systems such as SIP Road or BGM BigBox profit from such an ignition. Here, in contrast to a real resonance system, the pre-ignition can usually be significantly increased again and the available torque can be increased well.
The ignition is a perfect replacement for the existing one and enables a much more agile engine performance. On models from 2011 onwards it is a prerequisite for further tuning as it eliminates the speed limit of the original ignition.
The ignition is connected to the original wiring harness and operated with the original regulator. This is only valid for models from 1984 onwards. Models with ignition lock on the handlebar cover still need a new regulator.
A must-have for every tuned engine. The Evo increases the torque curve in the lower to middling revs range and increases the rev range of the engine.
