"The braking system is often sadly neglected when it comes to tuning scooters. What use is the strongest motor when you cannot bring your scooter to a stop safely? The OE PIAGGIO drum brake system is just not strong enough for tuned scooters.

In order that vintage and small frame riders can enjoy the benefits of a disc brake we have these modified steering columns available. Originally made for the VESPA PK 50- 125/ S/ XL/ SS/ Automatic models, it lends itself ideally to this purpose. These items are altered at each end, the steering lock recess has also been adapted along with the steering range stopper to fit these earlier models.

This conversion allows the use of a GRIMECA 20mm disc brake system and 10'' wheels - tyres can also be used with their better handling characteristics and much wider choice of tyre type with the necessary speed ratings. The steering column can be installed without modification to the frame of your VESPA. The mudguard however will require slight alteration in order to be fixed properly and a shortened shock absorber will restore the required angle to the trailing link suspension!"
