The SIP rev counters have revolutionised the speedometer market since their release in 2010. Features that were previously only possible with many additional instruments have been integrated into one and this with maximum understatement. Several years and countless customer requests later, we have now developed an update together with KOSO that is well worth seeing: the speedometer/rev counter SIP 2.1.

The design is very much based on the original tachometers of the PX Lusso models and the additional functions are almost invisible when the engine is not running. The face plate is largely based on the original km/h display in terms of font and position. The dimensions allow installation in the original installation space. The speedometers are available with and without mileage scale. The installation is very simple. The speed is measured via the speedometer cable as originally or can be transmitted via a speed sensor. The sensor is available as replacement parts. Worn speedometer drive gears and broken speedometer cables then no longer disable the display and the display is very reliable. The speed sensor is activated by the light signal.

Connection to the power supply

All data is reliably saved by an internal memory. The speedometers operate on 12V AC/ DC. No battery is required! Connection to SIP Performance/Vespatronic/ Parmakit ignitions is also possible. In combination with SIP PERFORMANCE ignition by VAPE, either the KOSO signal filter must be used for the DC version to pick up the revs or the brown wire of the SIP rev counter must be connected to the white wire of the SIP/VAPE CDI! The ignition pulse at the tachometer must then be changed to 1 for DC and to 6 for AC.

Setting and controlling the display

Setting and changing the displays is elegantly done by a small press button that can be inconspicuously attached to/under the light switch. A little gimmick: When starting, the rev counter performs a self-test, which creates a little Grand Prix feeling ;-)

The 2.1 version

The 2.1 version has a gear display. The tachometer calculates the gear engaged on the basis of rpm and speed.

Other new functions are the display of voltage, a low voltage warning and the display of maintenance intervals.

Furthermore, target speed and target distance can be displayed. This is interesting, for example, if a certain speed or distance should not be exceeded.

Note: It is essential to use interference-suppressed spark plugs and plugs.

Conclusion: The first high-end instrument that combines a speedometer and a tachometer with an original look. Racer, touring pilot or inner city cowboy - everyone will appreciate the advantages.
