During the 80’s Yamaha introduced the EXUP, a new exhaust system for 4-stroke engines that included a power valve which optimized the width of an engines powerband. The first of their YZF models the R1 was released in 1998 and shortly followed by the R6 in 1999 and since then they have gone from strength to strength especially with the introduction of their MT range in recent years.
